CBS’s “Abbott Elementary” just recently aired it’s Season 2 finale and the show was quickly renewed for a 3rd season!
“Each week, this talented group of artists celebrates true unsung heroes—public school teachers,” Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group told Variety. “Abbott Elementary is the gift that keeps on giving, and I look forward to many more magnificent episodes of this brilliant, authentic and just plain funny series.”
So when will the season officially premiere?
There’s currently no word on the premiere date as filming for the season hasn’t started yet due to the Writers Strike!
The writers room was just closed.
“We are demanding that this industry is one that can sustain a career,” said Abbott Elementary writer Brittani Nichols and the Los Angeles-based captain for WGA West in an interview with Democracy Now. She calls the industry a “gig economy,” where studios prioritize Wall Street, not workers.

Abbott Elementary stars series creator Quinta Brunson, as well as Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis. The story follows a group of dedicated, passionate teachers (as well as a slightly tone-deaf principal) as they navigate the Philadelphia public school system. Despite the odds stacked against them, the staff at Willard R. Abbott Public School is determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children. The teachers include Janine Teagues (Brunson), Gregory Eddie (Williams), Melissa Schemmenti (Walter), Jacob Hill (Perfetti), and Barbara Howard (Ralph). Ava Coleman (James) is the school’s inept principal, and Mr. Johnson (Davis) is the eccentric janitor.
